Valerie Lavern McDew, a cherished mother, devoted wife, and beloved sister, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2025, in her hometown of Augusta, Georgia, where she was born on November 25, 1960. Valerie's warmth and kindness touched the hearts of all who knew her, and her spirit will continue to shine brightly in the lives of her loved ones.
Valerie was a dedicated family woman, proud of her roles as a wife and a mother. She leaves behind her loving husband, William McDew, who stood by her side through life's journey, and her three wonderful children: Telicia Taylor, William McDew, and Elaine McDew. Each of them carries forward her legacy of love, strength, and compassion, holding priceless memories that will forever resonate in their hearts.
In addition to her immediate family, she is survived by her dear sisters: Barbara Shaw, Ruby Davis, Mary Davis, and Edna Allen, each of whom shared a strong bond with her, deeply rooted in the love and laughter of countless family gatherings and shared experiences. Together, they carry the heartwarming stories and lessons that Valerie imparted, ensuring that her spirit remains alive within the family.
Valerie's life was not without loss; she was predeceased by her brother, Willie Colbert. The bond they shared will forever be remembered, as he made a significant impact on her life. Though he is no longer with us, his memory is carried on through the love and strength of Valerie's family.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 20, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at C.A. Reid Sr. Memorial Funeral Home, located at 314-A Laney Walker Blvd Ext., Augusta, GA 30901, where family and friends can gather to celebrate Valerie's life. A funeral service will take place the following day, Friday, March 21, 2025, at 11:00 AM, also at C.A. Reid Sr. Memorial Funeral Home. Following the service, Valerie will be laid to rest at Walker Memorial Park, located at 620 Laney Walker Blvd, Augusta, GA 30901, during an interment service at 12:15 PM.
Valerie Lavern McDew's presence on this earth may have concluded, but the love she has given and the memories she has created will linger on in the hearts of her husband, children, sisters, and all who were fortunate enough to know her.
