Solomon Tarver, Jr.

February 10, 1954 — February 11, 2025

Augusta, Georgia

Solomon Tarver, Jr., born on February 10, 1954, in the embrace of Aiken County, departed this world on February 11, 2025, in Augusta, Georgia. Solomon’s journey through life unfolded over a remarkable span of 71 years, marked by dedication, hard work, an unyielding devotion to his family.

A retired roofer, Solomon built not only roofs but also a legacy of integrity and craftsmanship during his more than 40 years in the trade. Friends and colleagues remember him as a man whose hands shaped structures that protected families, while his heart built a shelter for those he loved deeply. Educated in the Public School System of Aiken County, Solomon’s life story is a testament to the value of hard work and a commitment to excellence.

Baptized at an early age at Old Storm Branch Baptist Church, he nurtured a deep spiritual foundation that guided him throughout his life. His passions extended beyond work; he found joy in fishing, where the tranquility of water mirrored the peace he sought. Those moments spent under the sun with a fishing rod in hand, surrounded by family, were treasures he cherished.

As a husband, father, grandfather, sibling, and friend, Solomon was an anchor for many. Clarise Tarver, his beloved wife, stood by him through life’s trials and triumphs. Together, they nurtured a warm and loving home filled with laughter and warmth. He was a proud father to Reginald Cummings, Tracy West, Jeremi Cummings, and Ka'Nechia Cummings, instilling in them the values of perseverance and love. As a grandfather, he doted on his grandchildren, finding immense joy in their laughter and milestones.

Solomon's siblings—Helen (Leroy) Brinson, Reverend Freddie (Videria) Tarver, Hattie Hammond, Barbara Ann Wright, Willie (Ronnie) Tarver, Ricky (Debra) Tarver, Angela (Steve) Thomas, and Betty (Tracy) Harris as well as four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews—shared numerous memories that will forever resonate in their hearts. Each one carries a piece of him, woven into the fabric of their lives, a constant reminder of his presence and influence.

He joins in eternal rest his late parents, Solomon Tarver, Sr. and Ollie Mae Garrett Tarver, along with his sister, Pauline Gethers, creating a reunion that brings solace to those who mourn his passing.

The love that will overshadow his absence owes itself to the many lives he touched. Solomon will be deeply missed, his spirit living on through the countless memories shared by family, friends, and all who had the privilege to know him.
