Augusta, Georgia

Sandra Godbee, a beacon of warmth and kindness, departed this earthly realm on September 8, 2024, in Augusta, Georgia, surrounded by the love and embrace of her cherished family. Born on May 25, 1949, in Waynesboro, Georgia, Sandra's life was a testament to the beauty of giving and the joy found in serving others.

A proud graduate of the Lucy C. Laney class of 1969, Sandra's journey through education led her to Augusta Technical College, where she majored in Cosmetology. Her hands worked miracles, transforming the lives of those she touched, as she served her community, family, and friends with utmost dedication as a beautician. She poured her heart into her craft, creating not just stunning hairstyles but also moments of connection and care that linger long after the scissors were set down.

Sandra was, in every sense, the embodiment of kindness. Her gentle spirit and compassionate heart drew people to her, making them feel valued and loved. She was a steadfast member of Moses Baptist Church in Augusta, where she found solace and strength in faith alongside her fellow congregants. As a committed member of the R.B. Bush Choir, her voice joined in harmony, echoing her devotion and love for her church community.

She leaves behind her beloved children: Keith Godbee, Lisa (Raymond, Sr.) Godbee, Jamie Lynn, Aamia Bennett, Jayden Bennett, and Traeshaun Walker, who will carry forth her legacy of love and compassion. Additionally, her grandchildren Jelissa (Jabier) Washington, Raymond Hurst, Jr., Janiya Lynn, Angel Lynn, Jamie Lynn, and Zyquayla  (Zamarion)Grandstaff, along with great-grandchild Payton Grandstaff, will forever hold her memory dear in their hearts.

Her life will be celebrated with a memorial service on Friday, September 13, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Moses Missionary Baptist Church, located at 112 Walker St, Augusta, GA, a place that held her faith and community close.

Sandra Godbee leaves behind a legacy woven with threads of kindness, warmth, and unwavering love. She will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her; her light will forever shine in the hearts of those she embraced throughout her remarkable life.
