Margie Parker-Carter, born on September 17, 1941, in Stapleton, Georgia, passed away peacefully on November 10, 2024, in Evans, Georgia. Margie lived a life filled with love, dedication, and an unwavering to her family. She retired from her long-standing career in housekeeping at The Medical College of Georgia, where her meticulous care extended beyond her profession and radiated into the life she shared with her loved ones.

Margie was not only a devoted mother but also a beloved grandmother and great-grandmother, who treasured her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren dearly. She is survived by her daughters, Barbara Screven, Peggy Williams, and Sandra Turner, who carry forward the warmth and hospitality she embodied. Her legacy continues through her many grandchildren: Kederick Crandall, Tiffany Crandall, Vanessa Crandall, Tykia Crandall, LaKelvia Screven, Darian Screven, Adria Turner, Tony Turner, Jr., Toinette Turner, Laporsha Williams, Jamie Williams, Mercedes Williams, and Kenya Parker as well as her brother, Willie (Regina) Parker and three sisters, Dorthy Wells, Christine Johnson and Sarah Parker. Each of them holds cherished memories of her love and guidance.

Margie had a remarkable gift for bringing family together, often hosting holiday dinners and gatherings that filled her home with laughter, joy, and the delightful aroma of her famous cooking. Her hands were rarely still; she was always found in the kitchen preparing her renowned fried chicken, fried corn, and macaroni and cheese, creating a warm atmosphere that welcomed all who entered her home.

In life, Margie exemplified the essence of selflessness and devotion. She will be lovingly remembered for her kind heart and her remarkable ability to care for others, traits that were an integral part of her personality and that shaped her family’s bond.

Though Margie has departed this earthly realm, she will forever live on in the hearts of those she touched. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Frank Carter, as well as her sons Perry Parker and Anthony Crandall, alongside her dear daughter, Shirley Crandall. Margie joins her brothers, Leroy Parker, Jr., Freddie Parker, and Mondy Parker, in eternal rest, as well as the cherished memories they all left behind.

Her family finds comfort knowing that she will watch over them from above, continuing to be their guiding light. Services in her memory will be held at C.A. Reid Sr. Memorial Funeral Home in Augusta, Georgia. Visitation will take place on Thursday, November 14, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM, followed by a Celebration of Life on Friday, November 15, 2024, from 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM, culminating in interment at 3:45 PM at Walker Memorial Park.

As we bid farewell to Margie, we celebrate a life rich in love and purpose. She leaves behind a legacy that will shine brightly in the hearts of her family and friends, forever reminding them of the beauty of family, tradition, and unconditional love.
