Keith Evans Bussey, affectionately known as “Pop,” was born on October 23, 1961, in Augusta, Georgia, where he also peacefully passed away on December 31, 2024. His life spanned over six decades, filled with moments of joy, love, and warmth that touched everyone who had the privilege to know him.

Keith received his early education in the Richmond County School System, a foundation that shaped his character and aspirations and where became a proud member of the Laney C. Laney Wildcats marching band, serving as their drum major, a role that not only highlighted his leadership but also his dedication and passion for music. His charismatic personality resonated with those around him, leaving a lasting impression on countless hearts.

Throughout his life, Keith had a deep passion for cooking. As a talented chef, he dedicated himself to culinary arts, working at numerous establishments where he poured his heart into each dish he created. His culinary skills were more than just a career; they were a means by which he expressed love and generosity. Sharing meals with family and friends, Keith made every gathering a special occasion filled with laughter, stories, and love.

Keith is survived by his beloved wife, Maranda Bussey, who stood by his side through all of life’s challenges and joys. He was the proud father of Keisha Bussey, Damion Upton, Clarissa Upton, Marissa Upton, Keith Upton, Patrease Upton, additionally he was a loving bonus father to four children, Angelica Brigham, Charles Jackson, Alexandria Johnson and Chiquita Simmons, and cherished the joys brought by his grandchildren, including Rakeisha Thompson, Arianna Logan, Ny'Aisha Upton, Domontrez Upton, Micheal Gibson, Jr., Aubrey Upton, Makhel Upton, Payton Upton, Damion Upton, Jr., Zion Upton, Keith Upton, Jr., Promise Upton, Destiny Upton, Diamond Upton, Chosen Ward, Jaquavious Jackson, Jabria Jackson, Toryn Brigham, Christina Jackson, Lauryn Smith, Semaj Johnson, Neveah Simmons, Shamarra Simmons, Jaheim Jackson, Shamid Simmons, Jr., E'moni Upton, and Legend Logan. Their lives were enriched by his love and guidance, and they will forever carry his legacy in their hearts.

Keith is also survived by his loving siblings, Pam Bussey, Wanda Carroll, Charles Bussey, Jr., Commodore Bussey, and Theodore Bussey. His family bonds were strong, reflecting the values he cherished throughout his life.

He was welcomed into eternal rest by his beloved daughter, Clarissa Upton, and his parents, Charles Bussey, Sr. and Mamie Lee Evans Bussey. Their memories will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved him.

Friends and family are invited to honor Keith’s remarkable life at a memorial service scheduled for Saturday, January 18, 2025, at 4:00 PM, to be held at C.A. Reid Sr. Memorial Funeral Home located at 314-A Laney Walker Blvd Ext., Augusta, GA 30901.

Keith Evans Bussey will be remembered as a loving husband, devoted father, proud grandfather, and cherished friend. His legacy of love, kindness, and passion for life will continue to inspire those who had the great fortune of knowing him. May he rest in peace, embraced by the love he so freely gave.
