Joanne Powell, a cherished resident of Augusta, Georgia, and beloved mother, passed away peacefully on September 25, 2024. Born on September 27, 1960, in the very city that held her heart, Joanne lived a life filled with joy, love, and dedication that touched everyone she met.
After dedicating years of her life to serving the community her role at S & S Cafeteria, Joanne became a pillar of strength and warmth. Her infectious smile and kindness made her a favorite among many, as she provided courteous and professional service, but memories that lingered long after the plates were cleared. Her legacy of compassion remains alive in the hearts of those who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Joanne is survived by her two adoring daughters, Joya Jones and Latoya Powell, and grandchildren, Qweshanna Johnson, Kinteaus Gross, Tashani McRae, Nyjia Green, Taniya Jones and Darren Powell who continue to carry her spirit and values into the world. Her love for them was boundless, deepened with every shared moment, treasured conversation, and laughter exchanged. In their eyes, she was more than just a mother; she was a guiding light, an unwavering source of support, and a true friend.
As family and friends gather to celebrate Joanne's remarkable life, her memory will be honored through a Visitation on Friday, October 11, 2024, at C.A. Reid Sr. Memorial Funeral Home from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM. The Celebration of Life will be held the next day, October 12, from 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM, where stories and cherished memories will be shared amongst loved ones. Following the celebration, Joanne will be laid to rest at Walker Memorial Park starting at 3:45 PM, a peaceful resting place where her spirit can continue to watch over her family.
Joanne Powell's life was a testament to the power of love and community, and although she may no longer walk among us, her legacy will forever remain in the hearts of those she left behind. Her warmth, wisdom, and laughter will echo in the lives she touched, reminding us all to cherish our time together and to spread kindness wherever we go.
