Hattie Pearl Chatman, a devoted housewife and beloved member of her family, passed away peacefully on February 7, 2025, at the age of 85 in Columbus, Georgia. Born on April 18, 1939, in Rutherford, Alabama, Hattie was a beacon of love and warmth throughout her life, leaving an indelible mark on everyone who had the privilege to know her.

Hattie’s greatest joy came from her family. She took pride in her role as a grandmother to Jasmine Symone Smith, whose presence in her life brought her immense happiness and fulfillment. Hattie's nurturing spirit was felt deeply not only by her granddaughter but also by her siblings, Collins Peterson, Jr. and Ida Simmons, with whom she shared a bond that only siblings can understand. Her family was the center of her universe, and she cherished each moment spent with them.

As a housewife, Hattie dedicated herself to creating a loving home filled with laughter and nourishment. Known for her incredible cooking skills, she could always be counted on to bring warmth to any gathering. Her kindness and selflessness characterized her life, and she went above and beyond to care for her loved ones, often placing their needs above her own.

Hattie’s journey in this world may have ended, but the love and memories she shared will live on in the hearts of her family. The legacy of her gentle spirit, caring nature, and unwavering strength is a testament to a life beautifully lived.

Visitation will be held at C.A. Reid Sr. Memorial Funeral Home in Augusta, Georgia, on Friday, February 14, 2025, from 2:00 PM until 6:00 PM. A graveside service will be conducted on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at Mt. Olive Cemetery in Hephzibah, Georgia, at 11:00 AM.

Hattie Pearl Chatman will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Her love and spirit will remain a guiding light for all who were fortunate enough to call her family or friend.
