Elexie Sims was born on August 1, 1952, in Augusta, Georgia, where she lived her entire life, leaving an indelible mark on those who were fortunate enough to know her. She departed this world peacefully on January 20, 2025, in the city that held her heart.
Elexie dedicated many years of her life as a custodian at the Medical College of Georgia. Her commitment to service and keen attention to detail reflected her nurturing spirit and love for her community. Those who passed through the halls of the medical college knew her not just as a custodian, but as someone who enhanced their environment with kindness and warmth.
Elexie is survived by her beloved children: Javadal Hunt, Belica Lewis, and Willie Hunt, Jr. Each of them carries a piece of her spirit and legacy, embodying the values she instilled in them throughout their lives. Her devotion as a mother was evident in her endless support and encouragement, where she provided them with a foundation of love and strength.
A visitation to honor and celebrate Elexie’s life will be held at C.A. Reid Sr. Memorial Funeral Home in Augusta, Georgia, on Friday, January 31, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Following the visitation, a Celebration of Life will take place at the same location on Saturday, February 1, 2025, beginning at 2:30 PM and concluding at 3:30 PM. Friends, family, and all those whose lives were touched by her gentle soul are invited to join in remembering a remarkable woman who brightened the lives of others.
Elexie Sims may have left this world, but her spirit will forever remain alive in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who were lucky enough to have known her. May she rest in eternal peace, embraced by the love she so freely gave.
