It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Edith B. Myers, who departed this life on April 6, 2025, in her cherished hometown of Augusta, Georgia. Born on April 27, 1941, Edith’s life was a testament to dedication, compassion, and love for her family and community.
Edith's journey took her from the familiar comforts of Augusta, where she was born, through the halls of Lucy C. Laney High School, and then onward to the bustling life in New York City, where she broadened her horizons at Monroe Business College. It was here that she honed the skills that would serve her well throughout her career, marked by her caring spirit that shone brightly during her time at Harlem Hospital. After returning home, she became beloved as “Miss Edith,” dedicating many years of her life to managing at Kmart, where she became a fixture in the lives of many.
Edith poured her heart into every role she embraced—devoted wife, nurturing mother, cherished sister, and loving aunt. To know her was to feel seen, understood, and truly cared for. Her warmth and talent for making others feel special turned her into a beacon of kindness, visible to all who had the privilege of crossing paths with her.
Edith leaves behind her beloved husband, Joseph Myers, and two devoted sons, Alvin (Christy) Myers and Terrance Myers. Her warmth will continue to resonate through her granddaughter, Sydney Myers, who brought her endless joy. She is also survived by her loving siblings, Marleen (Joe) Collins, Remel Baker, Sylvia (Keith) Tolen, McKinley "Mac" (Ruby) Baker, Robert (Samuella) Baker, Calvin (Yolanda) Baker, and Leon (Connie) Baker, as well as her sisters-in-law, Ora Lee Green, Annie Ruth Way, and Diane Baker.
A visitation in honor of this incredible woman will be held on Thursday, April 17, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at C.A. Reid Sr. Memorial Funeral Home, located at 314-A Laney Walker Blvd Ext., Augusta, GA.
