Augusta, Georgia

Dwight Dave Johnson, a beloved soul hailing from Augusta, Georgia, departed this world on December 10, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love laughter, and remarkable craftsmanship. Born on June 6, 1960, in the very city that would cradle his life’s journey, Dwight was known for his deft hands and unwavering spirit. “I could build a man if I had the plan,” he often proclaimed, encapsulating his belief in potential and possibility, both in himself and others.

A devoted family man, Dwight embraced his role as a father with profound devotion, offering boundless love and support to his children, Amber Pressley and Dwight "Bud." His heart was filled with affection for his siblings—Clara Johnson, Joann (Jimmy) English, Georgia (Lofton) Evans, Jacqueline (Kenny) Thomas, Henry Johnson, Larry (Mary) Johnson, and Timothy (Melissa) Johnson—each of whom he cherished deeply. He was preceded in death by his brothers Johnny Lee Anderson Simmons and Isiah Johnson, Jr.

Dwight's presence was a constant source of joy to many, as he spread laughter throughout the lives he touched. He was a proud craftsman, whose skill and attention to detail were matched only by his warm-hearted nature. His life was a celebration of family bonds, and he relished in the joyous company of his many nieces, nephews, and three god-sisters, sister-in-law Lunetta Simmons, Alyssa, King, Prince, Kenny (K.J.) Thomas and Candance Wright of whom he lived with that enjoyed and cherished him very much! His infectious spirit was further reflected in the friendships he cultivated throughout his lifetime.

Though the grief of loss is sharp, it is eased by the joy of cherished memories that linger, reminding us of Dwight’s vibrant energy and the love he so generously shared. His siblings, alongside his living family, will continue to honor his memory, as they recall moments filled with laughter and love that will forever remain etched in their hearts.
