David James Avery

David James Avery, a beloved member of the Augusta community, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2025, at the age of 66. Born on October 26, 1958, in Augusta, Georgia, David was a man of great passion and dedication, best known for his cherished role as a retired caddy at Sage Valley Golf Club. His love for the game of golf was evident in the joy he found while helping others navigate the course, offering advice and encouragement to golfers of all skill levels.

David's warm spirit and infectious laughter touched the lives of many. Friends and patrons of Sage Valley will remember him not just as a caddy, but as a friend who brightened their days with his kindness and humor. He had an uncanny ability to make everyone feel special and welcomed, leaving a lasting impression on all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Above all else, David cherished his family. He is survived by his devoted daughter, Jessica Avery, and his loving siblings: Eleanor Jones, Marilyn Avery, Sharilyn Avery, Charles Thomas Avery, and William Avery. The bonds he shared with them were deep and filled with memories that will forever be etched in their hearts. David's family finds solace in knowing that his generous spirit and vibrant personality will continue to live on through them.

Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during a visitation on Friday, January 24, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at C.A. Reid Sr. Memorial Funeral Home, located at 314-A Laney Walker Blvd Ext., Augusta, GA. A funeral service to honor David's life will be held the following day, Saturday, January 25, 2025, at 11:00 AM, also at C.A. Reid Sr. Memorial Funeral Home. He will then be laid to rest at South View Cemetery after the interment service at 12:15 PM.
