~ LULA MAE HUNTER OBITUARY ~ Funeral services for Mrs. Lula Mae Hunter will be conducted Friday, November 2, 2018 at 2:30 PM at C.A. Reid Sr. Memorial Gibson Chapel. Internment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Thursday, November 1, 2018 from 2 - 7 PM at C.A. Reid Sr. Memorial Funeral Home. Mrs. Lula Mae Hunter, daughter of the late James and Leila Coker, was born October 12, 1929 in Augusta, GA. She departed this earthly life for eternal on Wednesday October 24, 2018 in New Brighton, PA surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Hunter attended Hines Institute. She was a member of Grace Fellowship of Augusta, where she served diligently in the church’s pantry. She was the first black buyer forBelk’s Department Store in Augusta. Other than her parents she was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathy Trimble, sisters Joeretha Best, Thelma O'Neal, Nattie Mae Jones, Mary Gardenhire, and Lucinda McCullough, and brothers Tommy Best and Angelo Coker . Surviving her departure with cherished memories are her sons Dennis Harris and Larry Harris, her daughters Sheryl (Barry) Cooney and Connie (Michael) Elder, 16 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great-grandchildren, and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
