Calvin Brian Trowell

It is with heavy hearts that we remember Calvin Brian Trowell, a loving husband, devoted father, and cherished brother, who joined the Lord on January 7, 2025, at the age of 60.

Born on November 13, 1964, in Augusta, Georgia, to Jacob and Mary Trowell, Calvin is lovingly remembered for his kindness, humility, and unwavering faith, which guided of his life. He graduated from Westside High School, where he played football, and pursued higher education at Georgia Tech, Tuskegee University, and North Carolina A&T, achieving both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Engineering.

During his time at Tuskegee University, Calvin met Altha Wilson, and they exchanged vows on August 18, 1990, in Atlanta, Georgia. Together, they celebrated the joy of raising three wonderful sons: Joseph, and twin brothers Andre’ and Charles.

Calvin developed friendships throughout his engineering career, which encompassed positions at IBM and Nortel and spanned across three states, ultimately finding fulfillment as an engineer for the U.S. Department of the Navy over the past 18 years. A true family man at heart, he devoted much of his time outside of work to his immediate family and his beloved church community. His hobbies included cycling, baking and restoring his classic Chrysler. Calvin was a member of several church families at Gethsemane Baptist Church in Augusta, Northeast Baptist Church in Durham, and First Missionary Baptist Church in Lexington Park.

As we celebrate Calvin's life, and trust in God's plan, knowing that He makes no mistakes. We are profoundly grateful to all who showed support and love to Calvin throughout his life, and honor the legacy he leaves behind, along with the lasting bonds he created with family and friends.

Calvin is preceded in death by his parents, Jacob and Mary Trowell. He is survived by his loving wife, Altha Trowell; his sons, Joseph (Domonicka) Trowell, Charles (Lindsay) Trowell, and Andre (Azza) Trowell; his precious granddaughter, Gabrielle Trowell; his sisters Phyllis (Dennis) Copeland, Iris Burns, Donna Dicks, and Terri Trowell; and a multitude of nieces, nephews, and other beloved family members.

We invite friends and family to join us in honoring Calvin’s remarkable life. A memorial service will be held on January 25th at 12:00 PM at Gethsemane Baptist Church, located at 1485 Wrightsboro Rd, Augusta, GA.
