It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Betty Jo Johnson, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished friend. Born on March 24, 1962, in Augusta, Georgia, Betty spent her life surrounded by the warmth and love that her family brought into her world. She departed from us on February 11, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of compassion, resilience, and joy.
Betty was a proud graduate of Lucy C. Laney High School, where she began to cultivate her bright spirit and infectious laughter. She was known for her nurturing heart and unwavering support, traits that defined her role as a mother to her three daughters, Cievonn, Toi, and Jasmine. Throughout her life, she poured her love and wisdom into her children, fostering environments filled with encouragement and understanding.
As a grandmother, Betty embraced her role with enthusiasm and pride, doting on her grandchildren—Tonisha, Timothy, Sadacia, Malik, Micheal, and Maikera—with an unyielding affection. She found immense joy in their laughter and cherished every moment spent together. Betty's love extended further with the arrival of her great-grandchildren, Mia and Demetrius, who brought even more light into her life.
In addition to her immediate family, Betty had a special bond with her godson, Kwane Cobbs. The love that she shared with him was a testament to her nurturing nature, and they created memories that will forever be held in the hearts of those who knew Betty.
A visitation for Betty will be held on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at C.A. Reid Sr. Memorial Funeral Home in Augusta, Georgia, from 2:00 PM until 6:00 PM. This will be followed by a funeral service on Friday, March 7, 2025, at the same location, commencing at 11:00 AM, allowing family and friends to come together to celebrate Betty's remarkable life. Interment will take place at Walker Memorial Park later that day, providing a serene place of rest, surrounded by the beauty of nature.
Betty Jo Johnson will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Her kind spirit, beautiful smile, and unconditional love will live on in the hearts of her family and friends, reminding us all of the impact one person can have on so many lives.
