Alice Mae Ware, a cherished soul and beloved matriarch, passed away on January 28, 2025, at the age of 71, in Augusta, Georgia. Born on December 14, 1953, in Pahokee, Florida, Alice was a vibrant spirit whose warmth and generosity touched the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
A proud retiree from McDonald's, Alice dedicated her countless hours of service not just to her job but to the betterment of her community. Her magnetic personality was beautifully complemented by her love for dancing and singing, which echoed through the hearts of those around her. She was a mother to all and those who had the privilege of knowing her would say, “you had to know her to love her,” a testament to the unique bond she cultivated with friends, family, and even strangers.
Alice leaves behind her son, Eric (Bianca) Bartley, who carries forward her legacy of kindness and love. She is also survived by her cherished sisters, Mamie Lee Vandivere, Willie Ann Scott, and Estella Burns, and a host of nieces, nephews, grands, great grands, other relatives and friends who will forever miss her joyful spirit and unwavering support.
Reunited with loved ones beyond this world, Alice holds a special place in the hearts of her deceased family members. She is preceded in death by her son Michael Lee Bartley, her mother Mamie Thomas, her brother Willie Woods, and her sisters Taybell Floyd, Rosie T. Sumpter, and Angelina Barnes. Their memories will forever be intertwined as they celebrate her life together.
A visitation for Alice Mae Ware will be held on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at C.A. Reid Sr. Memorial Funeral Home, located at 314-A Laney Walker Blvd Ext., Augusta, GA 30901. Friends and family are invited to join in a Celebration of Life that will take place the following day, Thursday, February 6, 2025, starting at 11:00 AM and concluding at 12:00 PM at the same location.
As we come together to honor Alice’s remarkable life, let us remember her as the loving mother to all she encountered, a woman of contagious joy, and a dedicated friend whose laughter and light will be eternally cherished.
