Dr. Louise Tarver Jackson entered her heavenly home on Sunday June 4, 2017 in Raleigh, NC. She is a native of Augusta, Georgia and a proud summa cum laude graduate of Paine College and a magna cum laude graduate of Wayne State University. She is still the largest single individual donor to her beloved alma mater Paine College, who bestowed upon her an honorary doctorate. She was an elementary school teacher for over 45 years of which more than thirty years were spent at W.S. Hornsby Elementary School where she touched the lives of thousands of Richmond County students.

Louise Jackson was noted among the top 15 of Black Enterprise's philanthropists in the country. She believed in helping others as her service to her Lord and Savior. The Louise Tarver Jackson Foundation supports underprivileged students in their quest for higher education, particularly in STEM fostering a commitment to improving disadvantaged communities- "giving every child an opportunity to succeed".

She leaves as a living legacy to carry on her visionary service, one loving daughter, Anita L. Jackson, MD, MPH, two adorable grandsons, Christopher Tarver Jackson (6) and Alexander Joseph Jackson (2) and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends who will truly miss her and the love she showed to all she met.
